Hapimatic Cloud — User Quickstart

Welcome. This guide takes you from "I have a login" to "I'm running my first Claude Code session in the browser." It is written for someone who has not seen Hapimatic before.

Which Hapimatic is this?

Hapimatic Cloud is in pilot: this guide is for pilot users who have been given a login. This quickstart is for the managed cloud service (your own VM at https://<your-subdomain>.hapimatic.com). It is a different thing from the self-hosted Hapimatic core in the Installation guide — with cloud, the operator runs the server for you; you just sign in and use it.

What Hapimatic is

Hapimatic wraps Claude Code (Anthropic's coding agent) so you can run and monitor coding sessions from any browser or your phone, instead of only from a terminal. In the cloud service, your sessions run on a private virtual machine that is yours alone, and you reach it at your own web address.

You drive Claude Code from a clean web UI: start a session, watch it work, reply to it, hand off between your laptop and phone, and pick it back up later.

What you need before you start

You needWhyNotes
A Google accountYou sign in to your instance with Google (Google SSO)The email you give the operator must match the Google account you sign in with
An Anthropic account with a paid planClaude Code runs under your own Anthropic subscriptionAnthropic Pro is the minimum; Max 5× is recommended for real work. This is billed to you by Anthropic, separately from Hapimatic
(Optional) A Tailscale accountLets you mount your VM's files on your own PC over a private networkOptional — there is a "skip for now" path. See the Tailscale setup guide

You do not need to install anything to get started — your instance runs in the cloud and you use it from a browser. (Installing it as a phone/desktop app is a nice optional step; see PWA.)

Read this first

Before your VM is provisioned, please read and acknowledge the Consent & Data-Handling Statement. It explains, in plain language, what runs on your VM, what the operator can access, how backups are protected, and how to leave. The short version: the operator holds SSH access to a machine that runs your Claude sessions — you should accept that knowingly.

The onboarding journey

Give the operator two things

To provision your VM, the operator needs:

  1. Your email — the Google account you'll sign in with.
  2. (Optional) A Tailscale auth key from your own tailnet, if you want to mount your VM's files on your PC. You can skip this and add it later. See the Tailscale setup guide.

The operator assigns you a subdomain and provisions your VM. You'll receive your instance URL: https://<your-subdomain>.hapimatic.com.

Sign in with Google

Go to hapimatic.com and choose Sign in with Google. (If the hapimatic.com home page opens instead of the sign-in page, choose Sign in first.) Use the same Google account whose email you gave the operator. After Google confirms you, the gateway hands you off to your own instance automatically — you don't need to know or type your instance URL.

If Google sign-in is rejected

During early access, your Google account must be added to the allowlist first. If sign-in fails, confirm with the operator that the email you're using matches the one you provided.

Connect your Anthropic account (Claude Code auth)

The first time you arrive, your instance shows a "Setup Required" page because Claude Code isn't connected to your Anthropic account yet. You complete this in the browser — no SSH, no terminal on your own machine. You have two options:

  • Web Terminal (recommended) — a terminal opens in the page and runs claude setup-token. Follow the prompt to sign in to your Anthropic account and paste the token back. This uses your subscription (Pro / Max).
  • API Key — paste an Anthropic API key instead. (Note: an API key bills per-token, separate from a subscription.)

When authentication succeeds, your instance detects it automatically and moves past the Setup Required page.

Start your first session

You're in. Start a new Claude Code session, give it a task, and watch it work. You can close the tab and come back — your session keeps running on your VM.

About how long this takes

StepRough time
Providing your email / Tailscale keya couple of minutes
Operator provisions your VMdone ahead of time by the operator
Google sign-inunder a minute
Connecting your Anthropic account2–5 minutes (first time)
First sessionimmediate

Most of the hands-on time is the one-time Anthropic authentication. After that, signing in is just Google SSO.

If you lose access later

If your Anthropic credentials expire or are revoked (for example, your subscription lapses), your instance returns to the "Setup Required" state and you can reconnect from the browser, without SSH. See Recovering access (re-authentication).
